I have no words...

The vicious cycle we all experience is that dreadful roller coaster ride... You're happy one minute and the next everything is shattered in an instant.
We wish health and happiness and count our blessings for these every day then you find pieces of a puzzle you've been putting off finally come together to only discover you were lied to...again!
"I didn't think it was a big deal...I'm sorry I've upset you... We've been so happy lately" true. But at the expense of your lies and  secrets.
A truly happy person is fulfilled with all around them. Their wife, kids, their job... When you extend the invitation and open doors to unnecessary welcomings,  you are not only unhappy with your life, you're unhappy with yourself!
I believe in marriage. I believe that BOTH spouses work hard in making a house a home at different levels. Their will be the home maker who will run the house and hold the fort and the other who will provide financial success to have clothes on their back and food on the table. They are equal. And both deserve the praise. Secrets are kept when  maybe the wife has overspent the monthly income budget but when a man lies about a business trip that turned out to be a party fiesta is just dirty.
We don't expect praise for a free pass to be unlocked from these cages! This house is a HOME and behind these "cages" lives a family who will be your biggest fans no matter the falls and triumphs you may encounter. That is FAMILY. It's sad that in some peoples upbringing they were never taught that.
I need to tell my son over and over again when it's time to pick up his toys and make sure he follows through with it, when you do this with a grown-ass man...this just leaves me... Without words.

Cellulite Myths!

Cellulite Myths

So…you have a little cellulite. You won’t be the first and most definitely you won’t be the last. And, as much as we try to believe that we can make cellulite disappear, we should at least know some facts about cellulite and stop kidding ourselves!

Drinking more water will not prevent cellulite. Water and cellulite don’t come hand in hand, and unfortunately impossible to poof! wash out cellulite out of your system! However, keep drinking plenty of water a day for a healthy body, but deflate the idea that it will rid your cellulite…like…NOW!

Losing weight will not get rid of cellulite either. A common misconception is that if we loose weight, start dieting and begin toning we can prevent cellulite. No exercise can change the structure of your body, even the most fit athletes are victims of cellulite.  A combination of diet and exercise will reduce fat cells, but sorry ladies; it will never get rid of cellulite.

Creams will make cellulite disappear only if you want to believe it will! Bare in mind that some creams and oils will TEMPORARILY help REDUCE THE VISIBILITY of cellulite but again, it’s not a solution. Marketing does a great job in making us believe these products can.

Try : Nivea Body Good-bye Cellulite Serum, $12.99 it has proven to me to be the most effective at an affordable price.

Lastly, tanning will not hide cellulite. You are you risking of burning the first layer of your skin. Cellulite does not tan like the rest of our skin, and only makes these dimples on our bodies more prominent.  So spare your skin of this damaging solution.

Winging it...

Just like these blogs, I'm winging my life and the decisions it entails to assure myself some sanity, happiness and well being. Every decision I want to make I have to weigh out all the factors. Do I really want that play date with that rambunctious child? But my son's happiness is put before mine and I go along. Should I feel bad as I am sitting in my kitchen writing this blog to just say that I have someone to talk to as I hear my son talking to himself, pretending he's Tony Stark playing with his own imagination... The guilt is taking over me and I have to remind myself that I am his everything and that mommy too needs just some time to herself. But I feel so bad!!
Don't! I tell myself! My sons are well fed and well taken care if. They are blessed in so many ways.
The hardest part is being so far away from your family and friends. Seven years and I still get home sick. But my family is here now and my oldest has come up to pull my hair off my shoulders and I get chills by the affection and gentleness he's offering me right now. All in the while talking to me smoothly that if I don't share my ipad, he won't share his stickers. Haha!
I have so many questions and all the answers will just be a reflection for his tomorrow. So how do I know I'm doing the right thing? If I can't stand a certain person, do I expose my son to them with limitations or do I go with the flow until he's old enough to make his own judgement?
I've found myself distant from everyone here. I don't trust, but should I make that ok for my son? Can allow him to trust?
Being in a positive environment means the world to me for my little guys. Maybe I'm sheltering them from reality, but its actually reality that I want them to face and be real people. Not superficial.
I want them to show who they are, how they feel on the outside as the inside. I trust that I'm giving them the best values, such as I know them and none other.
Theirs no text book on how to do anything. What obstacles you'll confront and the best options to get through them. But I do know this: if I follow my heart, I know the truth is there. And when I decline my heart, I only learn down the line that I should never have neglected it in the first place.
On this note, I could practically continue typing with my noes as my oldest has completely taken over my space here and mommy duty calls for me once again!

Take care all!! Feedback is much appreciated! Just inbox me your thoughts! Maybe we have something in common!!

Debbie xoxo

Should you be sleeping in your bra?

Let me put it this way…either your breasts are supported for 8 hours…or they are not.

Personally, I prefer the support.  But I’ve always wondered if it was good for you?

Sagging or changes in the breast are due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, along with time and gravity.  And speaking of gravity, if your breasts are being held up, they're going to stay up a lot longer. When you take your bra off at the end of the day, they're a lot higher than when you put it on in the morning.  Right?

This may very well be another beauty myth of an old wives tale or it could be a matter of fact. I can tell you this though, there is no real connection between sleeping in a bra and breast cancer; however wearing a bra at night could offer more support or comfort, if needed.

Women with A or B cups probably don’t think about this, but women with D-DD cups might. It can’t be completely uncomfortable sleeping in your bra if you choose the right one. You might want to rethink an underwire because that will definitely cause discomfort and even bruising where parts are being dug in to your skin..

I wear a bra to sleep because it feels more comfortable.  And with more reason seeing that I wake up to two beautiful boys every morning, who knows what the day will entail so I consider myself half dressed by just keeping my bra on from the day straight into the night.

If you’re thinking about this, and you’re about to embark as a first time “overnight bra-wearer” your best bet is to choose a lightweight, non-underwire bra.  I love the camisole pajamas with the built in support.

But ladies, don’t get too comfortable with this.  I’m all about staying comfy but DO wear a supported bra that accentuate and flatter your boobs rather than making them look like they’ve dropped down to your waist line.  Young or old, get yourself measured properly and invest in a good bra and wear it proud!

It's the weekeeeeend!! Woot! Woot!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Today officially marks not only the beginning of summer, but many, many weekend trips to the shore. Personally, I don't own a shore house nor do we spend our weekends there; but I've made enough travels in my current lifetime to know that packing less is more!

So for all you proud American beauties, I'm narrowing down your packing (as far as clothing) right here! Get a pen and paper handy, this is your go-to check list:

1. Chic Glasses
Protect your eyes from squinting and crows feet with a pair of chic glasses, oversized and with a brown tint in them.

2. Versatile Sandals
And by this, I don't mean 32 pairs as "just in case" back up sandals. Think wisely, a pair for the sandy beach and maybe another pair for taking a walk down the boardwalk.

3. White Tank
There is no better top like the perfect white tank! When you are most stuck of what you're going to pair a bottom with, a white top will never, ever fail you!

4. Light weight jeans
Because jeans are not only casual anymore. These days you dress them up or down, you'll be rocking denim either way.

5. A Straw Tote
It's not only to pack your beach towel and sunscreen. Straw Totes are great evening carry-ons and look great with...

6. The perfect summer dress!
Their has to be that perfect dress you just cannot wait to wear this summer! And while your bringing your versatile sandals...you also have the option of dressing up your style with...

7. Nude Heels
They just elongate your legs and after being in the sun all day, you'll have that perfect glow and tan that will just stand out in such a way that your look is worth a million bucks!

8. The classic skirt
And if summer dresses are not our thing, your other option is that classic skirt. No matter what you pair it with, a classic skirt will always stay classic!

9. Lightweight Jacket
Finally, don't forget to add a lightweight jacket or cardigan for the chilly evenings by the water.

Well, here it is ladies! Your weekend checklist! Also, bare in mind that many of these items are nice to mix and match with. Use your imagination, put different looks together and enjoy your weekend rather than stressing about what you pack!

Summer makeover...from drab to FAB!

Yes! Summer has officially arrived! Let the makeovers begin!

Sunny days are so motivating to throw on a pair of sneakers and take a walk around your block getting as much cardio exercise. Summer's about getting fit! So save your gym allowance this summer and enjoy the great outdoors!

You'll need every dollar you don't spend at the gym to buy a new wardrobe! Changing your style and finding new flattering clothes will increase your confidence ad keep you up to date on the latest fashions.

Summer's also a great opportunity to eat right and drink plenty of water.  Salads have never been crispier and juicier in the summer time to me! Eat plenty of protein and pair it with a side salad, or veggies. The energy you'll get from this is unbelievable!

Time for a new skin care routine! Just as season's change, so should your skin's moisturizers. Wash and exfoliate daily, and look for a lighter textured moisturizer this warmer season as your skin will tend to be more on the oily side under warmer weather.

Finally, getting a haircut is  really fun way to change your style and is healthy for your hair too!

Turn your look from drab to FAB this summer for your own good and self confidence! Most importantly, wear a SMILE every day! That's your best accoutrement!

Slow and steady wins the shave…

Ah yes! Summer has fast approached us. We’re longing everyday to wear our dresses and skirts and plan a weekend at the beach. But, like most women, you probably hate shaving. And the worst part is that just when you think you’re done, you’re out of the shower and realize you’ve missed a spot or find yourself bleeding around the ankles. Or maybe you notice hair on your big toe…Ugh! Regardless the process, here are some ways to help you shave safely and effectively and probably even shave LESS!

Step One
Begin with a good razor. Personally, I like a man’s razor. Gillette Fusion with Aloe. A man’s razor has razors for a closer shave and that’s what I’m looking for, especially on my legs!

Step Two
Exfoliating. By exfoliating, you are removing the dead skin cells so that the small hairs are exposed! And you don’t need to buy any fancy creams or whip up a complicated remedy. Just bring a tablespoon of salt or sugar with you next time you shower, and rub this against your legs.

Step Three
Ditch the soap! Instead, after exfoliating, try using some body oil. I like to lather my entire body in Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel in Aloe. It will not only give you a smoother shave, but your legs will have a natural shine of pure moisture when you’re done!

Step Four
Know the direction you’re shaving. Instead of shaving in the direction of your hairs, try shaving against them. So, begin at the ankle and move your way up toward your knee. And ladies, it’s not a race!

A closet full of clothes...but I have nothing to wear!

As a mom of two, my days and thoughts are now spent on planning and thinking ahead. Always. From what are we going to eat...to WHAT ARE WE GOING TO WEAR!

With Father's Day being today (Happy Father's day ladies btw), aside from thinking what I can buy my husband, and managing my morning so we're out of the house and in time for our brunch reservations, I'm trying to put an outfit together in my head as I'm feeding the little guy his bottle.

"I like the outfit I had on yesterday. Skinny jeans and a black top...maybe I would throw on some wedges though since we're having lunch out today, oh wait...I just bought all these new tops! Oh and that chevron sun dress? Maybe I'll wear THAT instead...but we have all summer, I'm sure they'll be more occasions. Ok, I'll wear the jeans but maybe with a different top. Let me get some use out of the size 10 skinny jeans for what it's worth..."

Here's something you should know about me: if I've worn it once, chances are, you may never see me wear it again. Call me cliché or snobby or materialistic, I have this weird idea that because I remember events and people by the clothes they were wearing, others do too. This is why it's a battle for me trying to look the best that I can and not spend a fortune on clothes...every week! And also, my ass use to be a size 3 so until I loose this baby weight, I'm challenged a little bit more now.

Here's what I've concluded: mix & match! Changing up a pair of jeans from flats to wedges and tops from T's, short sleeve, long sleeve, sleeveless to throwing a cardigan over a tank top, belt no belt...will change your entire look completely!

There's no reason why this new top you bought can't be worn underneath a lightweight jacket after you've worn it with a hot pair of jeans...last week. Dress it UP with high wedges or dress it DOWN with cute flat sandals. And don't forget, always accessorize with big jewelry to bring out a whole new style to your outfit!

Can any of you relate or am I just cray-cray?!

For your face? Really?!

A real girly-girl who loves makeup will go to many lengths to try new things!

A recent discovery of mine has been the Blending Sponge. So, I bought it to see what the hype was about. I hurried it out of it's packaging, began dabbing it into my foundation and thought it would smoothly work its magic onto my face...WRONG!

At first, I didn't get it. I've been trying this precision blender sponge all week and I only find myself hurting my face!

It's unabsorbing and hard and the best way it works is when I push it hard to my skin to get a smooth finish. However, the best part of this product is the tip where I can go underneath and in the crease of my eyes and the creases of my nose.

It is then when I had my "ah-ha!" moment and realized...don't you dampen sponges? See my "How To Use A Precision Blending Sponge" below:

Do you rock Class?

Classy: An adjective. Meaning very stylish and elegant, not crude or misgusting or dirty or depressing; a deeper, more meaningful word for 'cool'. Prestige and high quality. ~definition by the Urban Dictionary.

Do you rock class? You don't have to own a very expensive item to show you have class. Class is not only in what your wear, it's about who you are. How you carry yourself, how you work what you own including your attitude and personality.

It's being in tune with the latest trends without being over the top gaudy. Simple and sophisticated. Making a $10 top look like a million bucks because you carry yourself like a lady.

Has anyone ever told you that you lack class? Being elegant and stylish comes in so many shapes and forms. It's in the way you talk, the way you walk. Your expressed  opinions show class. Your maturity shows class. Your void to drama and cliché's shows class. Back straight, head high is what I always say.

Know your worth and never forget it. We're all jewels and God's children. I've learned the hard way to speak when spoken to and just answer the questions asked. No need to go into detail about aspects of your life, now matter how big or little the topic might be. Learn to "smile and nod", be cordial but direct. Always choose your words carefully when expressing an opinion, we're not all the same, people will always twist your words according to how THEY heard it.

That, to me, is CLASS.

Narcissism: Surving the Self Involved

A self-help book of as little as 100 pages by Meredith Resnick.

"(Hurt) encounters with a person who lacks empathy for us is painful" a quote in this book that hits the spot when you are dealing with a narcissist. I could never find the word for this type of behavior until now.

I always could describe it: when someone attacks you of being something you are NOT. A narcissist is sadly a disease of a self-loathing person who is reflecting all their negativity on you.

Have you ever been in an argument with someone and wondered as you listened to them be-little you "are you insane?".  It's like they are taking the words straight out of your thoughts and saying them to your face when in fact, they should be looking in the mirror confronting themselves.

A narcissist will appear too good to be true one minute, and completely cold and distant the next. I find it quite sad that a person with this ugly behavior cannot find complete fulfillment in their lives. There's an old saying "sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me"; a narcissist will call YOU negative, they will say YOU have mental problems and that YOU are the one with the insecurities, but the truth is, it is THIS person (not YOU) who is negative, insecure and mentally dysfunctional. This is a disorder in a person that will drive everyone crazy-except the person who has it. It's not that they are completely in love with themselves, its actually the complete opposite: it's the IMAGE of thyself.

What is the point really of owning a beautiful house, car or the most expensive designer bags, shoes, clothes if you cannot maintain, cherish and value these things? Things. Materials. False self = narcissism. It's not just the picture you draw, it's what's behind it that matters.

Unfortunately these people lack the ability to love at all. If you're a compassionate person, show empathy towards a person like this as they are deeply lonely, needy and disown feelings from themselves consciously and unconsciously.

"I'm sorry" are two letter words that may be appropriate at the time, but if they are not believed and felt, they mean: nothing. Do not give in to the words or acts of a narcissist. They will find ways to hurt you because of their own insecurities and unhappiness within themselves. They will strive for success and power, and are not compassionate when they've kicked you to the ground and stepped over you. They will say their sorry and you may forgive, but you can never forget.

REAL EYES recognize REAL LIES ~unknown

Believe that their is a greater power out there, that you are here living and breathing and not a THING checked off someones "to-do" list. Respect yourself enough to free your mind, body and spirit from someone who takes you down when all you want to do is help them up.

"Sometimes, people try to expose what's wrong with you, because they can't handle what's right about you"  ~lessons learned in life.

I'm done.

Oh sunshine! Kiss my face!

It appears that in the summer we're all more concerned about our outer appearance. We start dieting, we look for better ways to enhance the glow of our skin. Let's face it, with 90 something degree weather, we tend to wear less layers. Show off more leg and arms and who wants milky white legs when you can have stunning sun-kissed ones?

The secret is in the making, and it begins and should be practiced daily, all year through.

For one, avoid steamy showers. That's easy, right? Who wants to stand under hot running water in the heart of summer. Hot showers strip the skin of its moisture. Keep your showers cool.

Apply Aloe Vera daily. Aloe Vera eats away at dead skin and speeds up the healing process. From head to toe, apply it generously and let time take its course.

Get plenty of Vitamin C. This helps keep your skin smooth and youthful. Vitamin C is a natural energy booster and helps "wake up" those sleepy skin cells.

Exfoliate everyday. And I don't mean the harsh stuff. Many beauty products now-a-days make daily exfoliating cream cleansers that are safe for daily wash. Neutrogena and Oil of Olay to name a few.

Take multivitamins. I can't stress this enough. Eating healthy alone won't cut it if you're not taking your daily dose of "ACE", vitamins A, C and E. Let's face it, we don't spend days on end eating greens. And these in particular, are vital to healthy skin.

KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF YOUR FACE. How tempting though?! But, it's not OK! Don't pick at something and think you're doing any good by applying the old myth of toothpaste at the end of the day. Stop examining your face, looking for something to pick at.

Change your moisturizer every season. In the winter, you should apply moisturizer a little heavier in texture. In the summer, your skin doesn't require so much moisture, but a daily SPF is still a good idea.

Get rid of excess oils from your skin. AKA Toning. And if you don't have the name brand ones, Peroxide does the trick.

Choose your cosmetics carefully. Including moisturizers. Anything with color or fragrance is an absolute no-no to your skin. Read the labels carefully. Anything that says "antibacterial" should be avoided!

With these tips, you're on the right path to even, healthy glowing skin. And to add a little color, it is so vital to avoid tanning salons. Ugh! Been there...done that and I've paid the price!

Try a Body Drench like Quick Tan. It's an instant self tanner for a natural look all year around. It won't streak or make you look orange. Apply it every other day, and I prefer the cream over the mist.
(Found at your local BeautyLand for $12.99 (+/-) for an 8oz bottle.

Whether you’re new to the world of extensions or have been wearing extensions faithfully, it’s important to know how to maintain these. Wearing hair extensions is a great way to add length, color, volume to your own hair.  Dramatically change your look without all the processing of hair dyes and scissors to your already lovely locks.

It all begins in the purchasing of a new pair. Most people tend to chose natural hair extensions over synthetic ones since they look and feel more like real hair. It’s totally up to you and what your wallet allows.

There are so many different ways to attach hair extensions to your hair, but if you’re just starting out and want to try the simplest method, try clip-on extension.

Now, let’s discuss caring about your extensions. Once you pick out what type of hair extensions you want to wear, get yourself a good brush or comb. Cleanse and condition your hair extensions so they are soft and shiny just like you would care for your own hair.

Be extremely gentle while washing hair extensions! Wash hair extensions separately and avoid twisting, scrubbing or rubbing while you wash. Apply the shampoo and conditioner in a downward motion and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and gently squeeze.

While styling your hair extensions, typically you only want to use heat tools on 100% human hair, but overusing blow dryers, curling irons or flat irons can shorten the life of hair extensions. Treat your hair extensions like you would the natural hair on your own head.

Another important tip on caring for extensions properly is storing them. If you wear clip-on extension, you’ll want to remove them at night and lay them out flat. Semi permanent or permanent extensions should be wrapped on your head in a silk scarf or braid your hair to avoid knotting and tangling.

Lastly, as much fun as it is to wear hair extensions and change your look, if they are causing damage to your hair or scalp (ex: thinning hair or falling hair), it’s time to give your scalp a rest.

Good luck with these ladies!!
To work a casual polished look or a more dressed up (or down) look depending on the occasion, tailored shorts are a must have this summer! Team up these shorts with plain t-shirts or a blazer; take your appearance from basic to awesome!

Chambray Shorts…are high waisted and are great for a smart sophisticated look.  Made to be paired with a plain blouse and patent ballet flats, they are an alternative to your casual denim shorts.

Striped shorts…team them with a slouchy tee, and a colorful bag for a cool nautical inspired look!

Tuxedo shorts…are perfect for working a polished look. Team these babies with a lace-up shoe and fitted blazer and a printed top. This look is so fun!

Contrast tailored shorts…are longer and great for working a casual look. Wear them with a tank top and bold necklace. The little contrast will add the right amount of “wow” to your ensemble.

Polka dot shorts…are just so trendy this year. If you’re brave enough to pull off this pattern, team it with a plain tank top and flats or high wedges.

Pastel Bermuda shorts…you can’t go wrong with these. They are very feminine paired with a silky blouse and neutral shoes.

Geometric Printed shorts…are also very popular this time around. Whether you pair it with a plain top or a dressier one, these geometric shapes make for some fun!

Floral printed shorts…because floral is just an absolute favorite print this year. You can’t beat a good floral pattern this summer! Try it out!

What are your favorite shorts? Do you think you’ll be trying these this season?

Spring Cover Ups

This season it’s all or nothing! You’re either going to see very eccentric and loud patterns or plain white. Here’s how you can keep your look seasonal by choosing a spring cover up in a statement pattern or a light and bright hue:

Lace Biker Jacket

A combination of delicate and tough, looks great worn with anything from a spring dress to plain old jeans and a T.

Patterned Bomber jacket

Perfect for working a casual look this spring. Choose one that is lightweight and in an eye catching print, and team it with a plain dress and accessories.

White Tailored Jacket

For a more polished look, everyone needs a tailored and sleek white jacket in your closet.

Floral Blazer

This pattern is this season’s spring favorite! Instead of wearing a classic floral dress, this year, try on a floral jacket instead.

Utility Jacket

This is a great way of working a cool and casual look. Dress it with skinny jeans and sneakers.

Polka Dot Jacket

Remember, all or nothing! Polka dots are still trending and it’s a fun way to wear black and white this season.

Knitted Cardigan

This is a cozy element to your spring outfits. Pastel cardigans are great for working a sweet spring look while bolder colors are perfect for making a statement.

So these are just a few lightweight cover ups worth checking our this season. From classic blazers to more eclectic patterns, there’s something for everyone this spring! Which of these cover ups do you like best?

This is for my butt...NOT your face!

When my baby sister was born, I was 14 battling acne like any other teenager. I tried anything and everything to help cure my acne. I was desperate.

One morning, as I'm changing my sister's diaper and applied her diaper cream for her rash, it was like looking in the mirror! So, I tried the diaper treatement on my face.

I didnt' know what I was doing at the time or if that was even safe, until I was just reminded it of it again since I had my sons.

So...did you know that diaper rash cream contains Zinc Oxide drying properties and is very beneficial in treating not only diaper rash for babies, but oily skin with acne. Zinc Oxide can be used to protect t...he skin from irritations caused by moisture and chafing as it can block irritants from directly contacting the skin, which minimizes the chance of irritation or infection and can help promote healing. I guess I knew what I was doing all along!

So, next time you spot a pimple, try a little butt cream as a spot treatment!

Fierce, Fabulous...Full Figured!

Good morning ladies!

I’m in a complete blissful time in my life right now! My second baby boy, born May 8th is 15 days old today. Weighing in at 8lbs and 8oz, and 21 ½” long, I’m just more relieved that the little guy is out of my cramped up belly and into the world where we admire him, hold him tightly and give him all the TLC he deserves!

Along with my beautiful baby boy, came post-pregnancy weight. I now rock another body completely out of my comfort zone. At my doctor’s appointment, I was weighed at 146lbs which is great seeing that I weighed 163lbs when I had my son…yet, my pre-pregnancy weight is 115lbs! Phew! So, slowly but surely, I have 31lbs to go to feel like me again. I know I can do it!!

Here’s my new venture: How Do I Dress A Full Figured Body?

For one thing, I remind myself (as you should too) I am banging gorgeous just the way I am! And I have confidence, therefore I will flaunt it! Here’s how you can find your inner fashionista, and try these fun, flirty tips for full figured spring fashion:

1. Find your most fabulous feature:  is it your hips? Your legs? Full figured spring fashion is all about embracing your body. Pick your favorite feature and there is a trend that will show it off to perfection.

2. Have you chosen your favorite bodily feature? Great! Now make it stand out! For instance, skirts, dresses and cigarette pants will show off your legs. Are your hips your favorite feature? Don’t hide them! Look for tailored pieces that hug your hips instead of hiding them. Tastefully show off your breasts with subtle cut-outs and fitted button up tops.

3. Focus on Soft Flowing styles: I bet you thought that you need to avoid flowy shirts and shapeless and hanging pieces. The key is balance. If you wear a soft draped top, make sure your pants or skirt is fitted. Same applies if you go for a full maxi skirt, wear a more fitted top. For a dress that flows, tailor it yourself and add a belt or blazer.

4. Show Some Skin. It’s quite alright. And I’m not talking about a tank top that barely covers your belly. I’m talking about sheer materials, one-shoulder tops or dresses to show off the curves of your shoulders and the length of your neck.

5. Three Quarter Fabulosity! Blouses, cardigans, three-quarter sleeves lengthen your arms and are practical in this season that veers between hot and cold. Make sure they are fitted sleeves and avoid draped sleeves that are too long.

6. Praise those Prints: it’s the season for prints and you shouldn’t fear them. Forget the rule where you need to avoid horizontal stripes across your bosom and opt for more vertical ones. Polka dots, plaids and florals in cohesive colors and themes, and smaller patterns are just as appealing for a full figured body when paired with a solid pant or vise versa. Keep it simple without distracting your viewers.

7. Your hemline. Although this will depend on the weather, your comfort or your most fabulous feature, you don’t have to stick to extremely long, ankle length hems. Play with knee-length and pencil skirts or dresses. Accessorize with adorable shoes or strappy sandals to show off some skin!

Not Your Mother's...

Looking for hair products and trying new ones is the most hassling thing ever!

Sometimes I'm so reluctant to try new things that claim will give you more bounce in your curls, smooth out and add shine or less frizz to your strands that I turn to natural alternatives to style my hair or put nothing to it at all.

Ladies, to get the right product for your hair, you need to know your hair. If your hair is naturally straight, no curling moosse, gel, salt water spray will make those locks curl. The only thing that will work is a hot curling iron and an extra hold hair spray.

Let's say your hair is the complete opposite, a curling moose, gel or salt water will help maitain your curls, in addition to some frizz serum to control the nappiness and if your curls are the spiral looking ones, try drying them straight first and then add your curling products for smoother curls.

So, with this short hair tutorial, I would like to introduce you to this amazing new product called Not Your Mother's, hair products. They are light weight styling products and smell tasty! Made with essential vitamins, herbs and bioactive extracts, these products help your hair stay strong and healthy.
Even washing the product off in the shower doesn't feel goopy or dry.

I've started using Kinky Moves from this hair line product and it has saved my life for my lazy hair days. Give these a shot! Retailed from $5.99; you can find these at your local CVS or WalMart.

Have a beautiful day ladies!

"Je mouiles mes cheveux, mais je ne les laves pas!" ~Antoine

Let me translate this for you ladies: "I wet my hair, but I don't wash them".

Antoine was my hairdresser in Canada some years ago. He opened a little French Cafe Salon in the neighborhood, he had a Parisian accent, blue eyes and dirty blond hair. Very excentric and european, he gave me the best hair tip advise! One was to never cut the length of your hair in the shape of a V. Always trim it straight at the bottom, this will give you the "oumf" and volume and bounce.

Another tip he gave me, was as my title suggests "wet your hair, don't wash them". We all know that washing your hair everyday will dry up your scalp and we need the oil build up as a natural moisturizer. As much as your shampoo is water based, you still need to take a break from it. So, truth be told, you can wash your hair everyday, but not use your shampoo everyday.

Hair grows from the roots, and it's important to take care of your roots. Your hair isn't oily because it's "dirty" you just have an oily scalp. And if this is the case for you, it's safer to use a dry shampoo to avoid washing your hair everyday, or simply WET your head in the shower without the chemicals.

I have yet to get in the shower and just "wet" my hair though. Except for my "bangs" period when I would wet them daily underneath the sink to get them to straighten again. I generally don't have oily hair and can get away with just washing them twice a week. Can't tell, can you?

So, if you're looking for hair advise on your oily scalp, try this: "mouille mais ne les laves pas!"

Have a great day les filles! xoxo

Things To This Summer!

These are our seasons “in” trends that you have to give a shot at least once! I can’t wait to get into shape and feel more like myself to give these a shot!

Cool Ear Cuffs are a short cut to piercing that you may later regret. Ear cuff ear...rings are a cool accessory you can dress up or down and add a little more interest to your face. Not like you need it, you’re always so beautiful!

A Sleeveless Printed Maxi dress is another summer must-have! Stock up on these ladies. The more prints and styles you have, add color and variety to your closet. Pair the maxi dresses with flat sandals or high wedges.

From head to toe, the latest nail trends now are Textured Manicures. Brands like Milani, OPI and China Glaze are making these textured polishes in fun and vibrant spring and summer colors!

Beachy Waves I believe have been in trend for as long as I can remember. This is a fast and easy hair look. Shower at night, let your hair air dry and wake up to beautiful beach waves and use Not Your Mother’s Hair Beach Babe Sea Salt spray for a lasting look.

Finally, what’s summer without the perfect bathing suit? Fringes are everywhere! Make sure you’re rocking one this summer.

Open your mouth...and earn a little respect!

So, I've been without heat since March sometime. Luckily, the cold has not been completely unbearable and the space heaters worked wonders. Now, they're in the process of installing a whole new unit and just in time with Summer only a month and a half away.

During the process of removing the unit, it cost me a whole in the wall and a broken Sangria Pitcher that was given to me as a gift on my bridal shower. It was displayed upon the shelves of my bar. I only noticed this a couple of days later when I knocked a piece of glass with my foot one morning and followed the trail of broken glass that led to the shattered mess. I'm 38 weeks pregnant. And I'm tired.

I immediately told my husband after my fury subsided. He said he would mention it. Do you think he did? Men! SMH!

At this point, while my new HVAC unit is being replaced, I made it a point to bring it to the installers attention. He called the hole in my wall a "scratch" until I stuck my finger in it, and when my fingertip disappeared into the HOLE it was very clear to him then and there "no sir, this is not a scratch" and like this guy's morning couldn't get worst, I showed him my broken Sangria Pitcher. He claimed he had no idea it was there. I could understand, it's all glass and easy to miss when you don't have an observing eye. He pursued to tell me that they would have to remove my entire bar, which is one with the ground and ABSOLUTELY CANNOT be "moved". That is exactly what I told him, I said: "Absolutely not! I understand your space is limited in this area, I just ask that you're a little more diligent with your work and if their is anything that needs to be moved, bring it to my attention first and foremost.

I thought we had settled this until one of his assistants walked through my door and wiped his dirty, muddy boots on my new carpet I put at the door's entrance. "You're kidding right?" The men exchanged a few words in Spanish and thanks to my French speaking background, gathered that they needed to be careful with today's job at MY house.

In conclusion, here are a few things you need to know when talking to people. In the end, it's not just what you're saying...but how you're saying it:
*Don't be too desperate and clingy and entitled;
*Don't play dumb. Just be straight forward. Show them you know whats up;
*Don't be too nice, but...
*Don't be rude.

My "scratch" and shattered Sangria Pitcher

Damn right you're going to lay that cardboard down trailing to my HVAC room!

Acne Scars Got You Down?

Well, I for one should smack you on you on your hand and tell you that you shouldn’t pick on your pimples in the first place! Now look at what you did!

But, relax… You’re not a sexless geek, with pasty white skin, five foot nothing, acne scar face girl…you’re beautiful and I will help you minimize the appearance of acne scarring:

CUCUMBER is great for helping to keep the skin smooth. Have you noticed how many different beauty products contain cucumber in them: Freeman Facial Peel-Off Mask Cucumber $3 or Nourish Organic Cucumber Face Wash $11; are just naming a few. When choosing a face wash, look for cucumber as a key ingredient because it will help your skin get better.

ALOE VERA has been used as a natural remedy to cure redness and burning. The juice of the Aloe Vera also helps heal acne scars and fight breakouts. Try using Aloe Vera juice on a daily basis and you will see great results.

OLIVE OIL is not just for healthy cooking or conditioning your hair to add smoothness and shine. Olive oil works magic on acne scars, and I know you might think that you get acne due to oil in the first place, but truly, like Aloe Vera, it rids the redness. You can leave it on overnight and wash it off gently with a wash cloth the next morning with warm water.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR is not just for detoxifying. If you use it daily as a toner after you wash your face and leave it on for 30mins, you’ll see results. Just make sure you wash it off with cold water afterwards.

EGG WHITES are a home remedy mask you can make. Leave it on for 30-45 minutes and wash it off. It’s great for those crows’ feet around the eyes too!

Most important thing to remember here ladies is that acne scars do not disappear overnight. Trying these natural remedies will not damage those scars even more. So if the acne is gone and all you’re left with are the constant reminders of where the acne existed, try a few of these tips, stick to them and I promise you’ll see results.

"You're all belly!" they say...

The roller coaster ride of pregnancy is conniving, endearing, fearful, pleasant, frustrating...in the first trimester you're trying so hard to embrace the joys and wonders that are about to happen to your body. Crossing your fingers that you don't get morning sickness...I'm sorry for those of you who did experience that throughout.

Second trimester comes along, you're in the clear, everything seems to be operating as scheduled...but, why don't you LOOK pregnant yet? You certainly feel it with your swollen breasts and pants getting a little snug. You've already begun wearing bigger shirts to avoid the "muffin top".

And suddenly...POP! Here's the belly! At first, it's cute, is it not?

I must say, I've seen women who are REALLY ALL BELLY!  I encountered a young lady the other day at the H&M dressing room who at 37 weeks (like me) was sporting her "pre-pregnancy" jeans...and wrapped her tiny little waist with a belt! A BELT! Aaaah....belts...I haven't seen my belts in 9 months!

At my son's swimming classes, there's mommies pouncing around the pool with their belly's and thin long legs and I just sit there feeling fat and swollen wondering "how is that even possible?!". Maybe it is my insecurities of having slightly heavier thighs, and being 5'1"...there's some days where my thighs and ass don't look so huge and others that they look ginormous! To me.

Tip: do not look back! Don't go through "pre-pregnancy" photos unless you're strong enough to tell yourself that you're goal is to look like THAT again!

Well, despite all this nonsense I'm writing about, I'm speaking from a reality prospective. However, beauty is how you feel about yourself from the inside, and how you feel about your life in whole. I'm content and fulfilled. I have a beautiful and healthy son, a strong and compassionate husband, a roof over my head, my health and my baby's health, food to eat, a car to drive...the sun shines on cloudy days and I actually AM confident about my appearance. Gaining a mere 30+ pounds this time in my second pregnancy, eating more carefully and wisely is not all that hard.

And yes, I dress to impress because despite my feelings about myself, the body only I see in the mirror, it is always nice when someone tells you "look at you! you're all belly!" Yes. I am, because everything else is hidden! haha!  Your most attractive attribute is your smile, and you become approachable to people. And as I often wonder "wow, people in America are very friendly" I conclude that I'm actually smiling even when I don't think I am :)

Have a great day ladies!

Spring Dress Must-Haves!

Aaaaah spring! A time to break out from dark colors, boots and layers and layers of clothing! Here for you are this spring’s trendiest dresses! Even if you can’t completely get away with them with the 50 degree weather, why not begin building your Spring Dress inventory:

Skater Dress

So flattering and effortless to wear.  Suitable for everyday wear, work wear, night out wear…it’s all about the right accessories and you can make this ensemble look as fabulous or as low key as you choose!

LadyLike Dress

Inspired by feminine vintage styles, it’s conservative and delicate. This is what I would call “church clothes” but for the more modern woman, wear this to work or around the weekend.

Bodycon Dress

The “I love it” or “I hate it” dress! I personally love it, and I can’t wait to loose the baby weight to slip this baby on! This dress is an ideal cocktail dress, and please minimize the accessories. After all, your curves are what make this bodycon dress!

Relaxed Dress

Cool, unique and relaxed. These dresses offer a very flattering drape. This is great weekend wear!

Maxi Dress

I’m just so thrilled the Maxi Dress is STILL this season’s trend setting dress! Looks great on short people just as well as taller women. Goes great with flats or high heels.

On a last note, this season, it’s all about the graphic prints! Fitted waists and flared skirts that are flattering on almost every body shape. Add a jacket for cooler days, or wear on its own when it’s warmer. Whatever you do, DO wear these dresses without a special occasion!

Happy Shopping Ladies!

Happy Spring Cleaning Everyone!

When Spring Beauty comes into bloom, you really know spring has finally and officially arrived. So, I hope that the cloudy weather and rain doesn’t discourage you too much! After all, April showers bring May flowers!

Here’s the important question: are you ready for spring? And I don’t mean taking the opportunity to wear those plastic yellow gloves and grabbing the bottle of bleach to get started on your house cleaning…I mean are you Spring Beauty ready?

Now that warmer weather will be approaching us, it’s important to think about our skin regimen.  In the winter, our skin tends to be more on the dry side, so we need to keep it hydrated and moisturized a lot more. In the upcoming months, oily or acne-prone skin will worsen.

Are you leaving your locks grow out for the summer? I agree! It’s so sexy to have long beach wavy hair! However, the sun, heat, pool or salt water will over dry your hair, so trimming it now, will save you of any future damage.

Thinking of lightening it up a little? Here’s a hair idea that I don’t necessarily agree with for summer. Although light streaks are gorgeous, they tend to lighten so much by the end of the summer season; you’re really damaging your hair more than you think. And all that maintenance? Do you really want to spend some of the best days in the hands of a hair stylist?

Lastly my favorite part of all is decluttering my closet! It’s like my own little shopping spree! First I uncover purchases I probably have made and completely forgot about while I’m rotating my winter wardrobe to my summer wardrobe. And secondly, it will leave me room for more things!

I picked me up a Hot Bun!

While out at one of my WalMart ventures, I picked me up a Hot Bun!

I really wasn't looking for one by all means, but I thought hey, for $9.99 why not try! Well let me tell you ladies, the Hot Bun is a thousand times easier to use than the "sock bun"!

Litteraly, Roll, Snap and Wrap! THAT easy! The package comes in two sizes: small and large. Athough it's a light-colored tube looking velcro thing, and my hair is fairly dark, it covered really well.

I'm so loving this! What a life saver... I can go as high or as low as I want. Now I can do so much more hair styles. Oh, and that sock of my husband's I cut up (sorry baby)...bye, bye!!

I found my first gray hair...YIKES!

Found some grey strands in your hair? Before you hit panic mode, let’s go over some facts about grey hairs:

The most common grey hair myth is that if you pluck it, three more will grow in its place. That’s FALSE. You cannot add to the number of hair follicles on your hair and therefore you cannot cause surrounding hairs to also turn grey.

Another fact you need to know about gray hairs is that it isn’t really gray. It’s actually hairs that have lost all the pigment that causes it to appear gray. Gray hair does not mean you’re aging faster; genetics play a huge role in going gray early.

Gray hair can be high maintenance. It takes much time and effort to care for. Gray hair is a bit coarse and can be very dull. But, the bright side is that you can do the same conditioning treatments and styling to regain the luster and softness as you would, had you not had any grays.

Why are you graying? Especially at such a young age? You could be lacking vitamin B in your diet. Taking a good quality B-complex vitamin could be helpful.

There are plenty of ways you can hide the gray! You can try an allover permanent color to conceal grays. Try semi-permanent hair color if you’re not ready to commit to permanent hair color. Get highlights or use hair “makeup” to conceal gray hairs if you don’t want to commit to any color at all!
Finding your first gray hair can be stressful but don’t worry! It happens to everyone and there are many ways you can conceal it. Many people start seeing gray hair in their 20s and 30s, so if you start seeing some grays sprouting, you’re not alone! Share your first gray hair experience with me here!

How To Get Smokey!

The smokey eye is one of my favorite eyemakeup looks!
It's a little tricky to achieve at first, but with some practice, it's well worth the look and by choosing the right colors, can be very versatile.
Below, I've posted a picture tutorial to help walk you through this look:

1. Begin with a good primer; I used NYX;
2. You'll need three brushes: your shadow brush, a smudge brush and a blending brush;
3. Begin with your shadow brush and dust some black shadow over your entire lid;
4. With your smudge brush and the black shadow, use the black shadow to contour your entire eye;
5. With your blending brush, use a copper or brown shadow and begin applying it to your lid starting in your inner eye crease, blending the black shadow in an upwards and outward motin.
6. Use a concealer to clean up any fall-out; and your favorite liners to line your water-line and your upper lid, to bring the shadow together.
